_{★— Oh wow that’s a difficult question to answer. The thing is, over the course of time that I’ve been writing Steve I’ve come up with so many headcanons that I try to justify using canon – small things he’s said, tiny quirks, even those passing stares in comics that make me think he’s staring at something longer than he should be therefore he feels such and such a way about it.}

_{It’s hard to pick just one singular headcanon, of course I’m baised toward my own writing so I tend to think that certain things I come up with are the best things since sliced bread.}

_{I think there’s one thing that I try and incorporate into my writing a lot more than anything else, and it’s his accent – it’s hard to write such a strong accent into any writing and still keep it entirely readable, for me, anyway. I’ve always thought that Steve has a very strong Brooklyn accent, and over the years he’s conditioned it out, just a little. With all of the press tours that he’s done in the past, interviews and appearances, he has to maintain professional understandable not only by natives but by those abroad. Being a Captain means he has to speak with a clear, concise tone of voice, and touring all over the world had meant that his accent has indeed dulled down.}

_{But one of my favourite things is thinking that his accent flares up whenever he feels angry, is shouting, or is heated. You get Brooklyn-isms shine through, words get cut off and his tone carries that bite to it. Over the years I’ve been trying to delve more into how his accent would sound exactly, but yes, most definitely it gets stronger the stronger emotions he is facing. (Of course when he’s loved up his accent slips too, those flirty moments of slang slip in, only behind closed doors of course).}

_{I’m also very keen into ensuring that Steve stays close to his roots, and has a lot of Irish in him. Traditional songs his mother used to sing to him really stick with him, and perhaps, when he sings them – because he’s so used to hearing them sung a certain way, he has a bit of a softer mixed Irish-American accent. Because he’s so used to his mother saying certain words, there are particular words that carry more of his mother’s accent to them when he says them – it’s all to do with conditioning from a young age, positive association with those words too. I know this is really rambly, but I feel accents are a great indication of character and actually say a lot about the person and their upbringing. So yes, I feel it would definitely be important for Steve to maintain a few Irish quips here and there regarding the way he says certain words. And naturally, he’s great at singing lullabies (seen in the issue where he accompanied a few troops to South America if I’m not mistaken) where he’d sung a little girl a lullaby in Spanish. I’m going to go ahead and assume he did the same with Ian in Dimension Z too – but instead of Spanish, he used to sing the old lullabies his mother used to sing him, particularly when he was sick. Those soft tones and melodies carrying through each note, with his accent melting into more of his mothers voice. Sarah Rogers is SO important to Steve, and so I feel he’d want to carry on her strength through any means he could, to help others as he was when he was younger.}

_{Whoa, I really did go off on one here.}

_{So, short summary; Steve’s accent shifts regarding the situation. In the public eye he seems more rigid, in the heat of the moment his accent may slip into something more common around his area in Brooklyn, and when he’s being softer and more comforting his accent reflects a lot more of his mothers.}

_{I think that’s one of many headcanons that I love to write, and have been developing. Maybe I think too much about it. There are huge other aspects of his character that I write headcanons on but I gotta say this one sticks with me a lot when I’m writing.} 

_{★— [[ They would be the cutest married couple though, just imagine;} 

<sub>+ Whenever Steve wakes up he’d make Tony the BIGGEST breakfasts because he KNOWS Tony won’t eat for the rest of the day because he’d be too engrossed in his work, so he makes that one meal count. (Even though he’d march right down there and make SURE he comes up for dinner) 
+ They’d go for lunch dates like in Marvel Adventures, go to play basketball afterwards
+ They’re already practically the mother and father of the Avengers
+ Steve looking after a sick Tony is like #1 in my wishlist
+ They argue all the time but it’s a sign of love lets be honest 
+ Steve sketching Tony when he sleeps then Tony waking up to see the drawing in the bed next to him
+ Both of them suffer from extreme PTSD, so understanding it and helping one another would be ideal, they’d know how to deal with it, what to say, and what to do. It would just be a COMFORT. 
+ Steve making sure Tony goes to sleep before him because he knows Tony suffers more from insomnia than he does, so he makes sure he’s looked after first. 
+ Both of them in a caring domestic relationship making coffee for each other because they’re both coffee addicts and Tony already knows Steve’s favourite type of doughnuts with coffee in canon
+ Steve’s muscular pecs and butt being the ultimate pillow for Tony to sleep on
+ No more wars once they’re married - as we can see in Earth 3490, the solution is marriage. ]]</sub>

“Tell me about your first ____.”

_{★— “Friendly casualty? Now this is hard– depends what you
mean really. There could be multiple meanings behind it - one
being the first time I’ve ever accidentally performed what we
call Friendly Fire, which means I’ve hurt a comrade of mine in
battle. The first time THAT ever happened was when I was given
my first dose of gun training back in camp Lehigh. Now as some
of you might now, I’m not too partial about arms, never liked ‘em.
There’s ANOTHER reason why - S’pose when I was trainin’ I was
just gettin’ used to things, being aware I was previously a frail fella
that didn’t really get a dose of toyin’ with weapons. So I didn’t
EXPECT the recoil from my first shoot, I was told to be ready for
somethin’ but when I first fired, my elbow went FLYIN’ back and I
ended up smackin’ my instructor in the face and broke the poor
fellas nose… I suppose that COUNTS? Right?”} 

_{“Okay and now for the second meaning, so the second meanin’ I
got is when someone on your team gets injured, one of your friends.
S’pose the first time it was Junior, back when he was stationed with
us rather on lookout duty. The guy was a TWIG, it was a wonder he
passed basic. He was the youngest of the Commandos, a young lad
that thought drinkin’ would put more hair on his chest yet the first shot
of whiskey he got he’d be rollin’ on the floor. Anyway, he was a GREAT
lookout, a great scout with eyes as sharp as a hawk. With our numbers
short, we decided to bring him along with us to infiltrate a HYDRA base
in the mountains. Sure, we were well equipped, prepared to perfection for
most things. The second the Junior slipped through the door (second to
Gabe) we heard the loudest yelp and the boy came out runnin’ and
screamin’. Now as I said, we were prepared for MOST things - but in
this case, we WEREN’T prepared for Hydra agents with FLAMETHROWERS,
barrelin’ our way in tens. I’d never heard anyone shreikin’ like that in my
life - it was the LOUDEST thing. He ran and dived face first into the snow,
but lord, I could never get the smell of burnin’ hair outta my system, even
to this day it makes me cringe. I ran over to see burns and scars decoratin’
him, it was the saddest sight. The most innocent fella I knew was charred
up, now I’d seen guys with bullets in ‘em before, boys cluttering the infirmary,
but this was the first time I had bared witness to such a TRAGIC incident.
It made me feel sick, it made my knees feel weak and all I could hear was
a ringin’ in my ear. Luckily Junior was fine, they just patched him up, but
seein’ someone you care about get HURT really does somethin’ to you.
Let’s just say I didn’t leave Juniors side until he was well again. As the
Captain, I couldn’t help but feel accountable. It’s not just a title, it’s the
RESPONSIBILITY.”}

♤   Worst time ever

_{★— “I can’t believe I’m reliving this. As some people may
know, my FIRST girlfriend was Cynthia, a helluva woman, but
we met on the field which didn’t make things too easy. The thing
about being in the war, being a soldier, is that there are ALWAYS
people around. So this being my… First time, especially since I’d
been part of the project and– was new to not only the experience but
what I was capable of… We had to be QUIET. She wanted to go
somewhere else, but the most comfortable was the barracks I was in,
the other boys were asleep when she’d daringly jumped into my bed.
Holy smokes, it took me by surprise but picture this; you’re in a room
full of sleeping guys with a girl in your bed trying to be as QUIET as
possible. Now– I ain’t exactly quiet in bed, so I found out. Having to
bite on pillows and keep my yapper schtum was a task all in it’s own.
So– it was going well despite me being a clutz, she handled me well
until… Maybe I’d forgotten about the serum, about the strength and
resilience that the serum provided and}
